"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the power and the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever, Amen." Ephesians 3:20

Hospital Day 14 -- Set FREE!

As I post this update, we have left the hospital, albeit temporarily.  We are on a night pass, and should be formally dishcharged in another day or so if everything remains fine.  Anna quite literally danced a little jig when she realized we were leaving.

We are now at our cozy apartment - Papa, Anna, and me.  We are clean!  We are warm!  Our tummies are full!  Our hearts are happy!

On cleanliness:  Oh, the wonders of a hot shower, proper shampoo, and thick towels.  I know...we are spoiled.  Most of the world does not have things.  Tonight, I am thankful for them.

On warmth:  The hospital ward did not have central heat or air.  To keep the room from getting stuffy, the window needed to be opened, but if the window was open, the room would get too chilly.  Thus, it was an endless dance of opening and closing the window.  (The fact that one can freely open the windows without thought of potential legal action is another topic!).

On full tummies:  Papa made spaghetti and salad for dinner.  Anna ate four (yes, four!) plates of spaghetti and two helpings of salad.  The girl was hungry!  It was nice to sit around a proper table and enjoy delicious dinner.

On happy hearts:  I know our joy is not to be dictated by our circumstances - abased or abounding, we are to find our peace and strength in the Lord, not in things that are fleeting.  Sometimes, though, the simplicity of things such as hot water, excellent medical care, loving friends and family, encouraging words, and yes, even spaghetti, remind us to see our circumstances as they truly are -- overflowing with blessings!  I'm indulging in the decadence for just this moment.  Thank you, Lord, for your bounty!

Good night, friends.

  1. I always look forward to your news and most of the time brings tears but also helps me know how to pray. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for all things, little or huge. As you all sleep together in warmth and full tummies prayers are being said for your family there and here. We love y'all.
