Today, Lucy had a pretty good day. Amelia, however, struggled. She is having a tough time sharing the attention and affection of the adults. She wants to do everything for Lucy, but she's not quite grasping that Lucy does not understand English, which results in frustration on Amelia's part. Lucy also tries to take things away from Amelia and touch Amelia's things, which has brought out Amelia's territorial nature. There were some sweet moments today, though. Amelia helped Lucy try on shoes. Lucy came over and tried to comfort Amelia when there was a meltdown over Lucy being in Amelia's things. Praying these two strangers who are now sisters will one day be great friends.

They will certainly learn to be great sisters! Ups and downs are expected and normal! We are overjoyed to see the pics and just know the Lord has GREAT plans for your family. (Please give Amelia a big hug and kiss from CeCe.) We feel we are a part even though we are so far away. We continue to pray for all of you daily. Love you guys! Steve and Cyn
ReplyDeleteOh my those panda shirts and that panda purse are TOO CUTE! Lucy is just adorable. I have to say this brings back memories for me. Noah was in no way prepared for how much Kaara would be touching his stuff. Nor was he pleased that when we got home, in order to protect it, he had to keep it in his room. He was used to having the run of the house. Far more than sharing the adults, it was the getting into his stuff that drove him over the edge. And I simply didn't pay enough attention to how important to him that was. As long as you acknowledge to Amelia that you understand that dealing with Lucy getting into her stuff is a huge adjustment and stress for her and hard for her to do, she'll figure out it's worth having to be more responsible with her stuff as well as share it.
ReplyDeleteAmy: I am so enjoying following your journey. It brings me back to early 2009 when Mia and I brought Marika home. They are 3.5 years apart and such best friends. I see Amelia acting just exactly how Mia did. They are just trying to get used to each other, and it WILL get easier. Of course they still get under each others skin, but are best friends through and through. Lucy and Amelia are both beautiful. Have a wonderful journey. Thinking of you from Seattle, Kathleen (Mia and Marika)
