"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the power and the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever, Amen." Ephesians 3:20

Rockstar!

The Chunster is SO silly! We were playing at home, and she ran across these - as she calls them "cool glasses" - so of course, she needed her cell phone and backpack, too. And yes, in case you can't tell, she is wearing Dora pajamas and Elmo slippers. She was convinced that she was the coolest thing EVER in this get-up. Thank goodness it was nighttime and I didn't have to fight the battle of telling her that she could not wear this ensemble in public.

Merry Christmas from The Chunster (& Mama)

Last year, Amelia had only been here 3 weeks when Christmas rolled around, so we kept everything very low-key. This year, it's a different story. Amelia LOVED putting up the Christmas tree, and she had a little one in her room with green ornaments (her favorite color) and pink lights. (She wanted green lights, too, but they were sold out.) She loves the trees and runs in the minute we get home each day to turn them on. She also thanks God for her Christmas trees each night when we pray. Amelia has been very interested in the Baby Jesus story as well. She has asked me many times if we can go to Bethlehem, and I always tell her it's too far away. So now, she thinks Bethlehem is near China because they are both far away. Grandmama & Papa bought Amelia her own nativity set with people that you can change their costumes, put things in their hands, etc. Her favorite thing to do is to rock Baby Jesus in the manger and to put things in the Wise Men's treasure chest (usually an M&M) to give to the Baby. Amelia was a sheep in our church's preschool choir pageant, and I am pretty sure she is the cutest sheep ever! She received some Thomas the Train toys, books, art cupplies, a microphone set, and other fun things for Christmas. We stayed at my parents' house for a week, and Amelia was so comfortable and happy there. So much has changed in one year!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last year, my Dad and I celebrated Thanksgiving in China. It was Amelia's fourth day as a member of our family and her first official visit to McDonald's. She refused to eat anything at all that day, but she did feed her new Mama a french fry, which delighted my soul! Fast forward one year, and wow, how our lives change. First, Amelia loves "Old MacDonald's" as she calls it. French fries are her favorite food, except maybe corn. She thinks fries should be consumed at every meal. Alas, we insisted on a "traditional" Thanksgiving for Amelia's first one here, and she loved the turkey. She mostly loved being with her Papa and Grandmama, whom she has come to dearly love in this last year. Thanks be to God for the bounty of blessings our family has enjoyed this year, the most precious of which is Amelia AiChun.

This is Amelia's 3rd birthday, but her first with me. Amelia's birthday we a huge hit. She was so excited to have her friends at her house for a Ratatouille party. Yes, she picked the theme. No, I never imagined when I trekked to China for a sweet little girl that we would be having a rat birthday party! We ate rat cake, made pizzas, played games with soup pots and water and had a great time. Amelia was a little under the weather, but after a short visit to the doctor following her party, we have antibiotics and will soon be on the mend. I have to say, birthday parties are a lot of work, even the simple ones, like what we had. Maybe next year we will have the party elsewhere, so all the work is done when the par-tay is over!

Big Texas girl!

Today was Amelia's first time to ride a horse. She first said she didn't want to, but I thought if she didn't try now, she never would, so I sort of talked her into it. She cried, and after the ride, she needed big hugs from Mama. However, for hours afterward, she proudly announced to everyone she saw, "I rided a horsey! I big! I no cry." Okay, 2 out of 3 things were true. That last one, not so much! It was still fun and a very "Texas" way to spend a Saturday.
