Praises sing from my heart this afternoon!
The surgery is complete. Anna did great. There was a little more bleeding than they wanted, so they plugged that with a bit of muscle. They were able to visualize and avoid the facial nerve. They had to cut down the device because Anna's opening was so small, but the American doctor said this was good - less chance of the device migrating. And now....for the intial results....drumroll please....
They activated the device under anesthesia and tested the electrodes. They tested two electrodes in the middle and two on either end, including the one furthest on the array. Anna's responses were SO beautiful, they didn't even bother to test the other six.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost! Amen!!!
The next 24-48 hours are critical for Anna. She will go to the ICU. I am headed there now (I have no been able to see her yet!) Pray for the swelling to be reduced and for her pain level.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS.
Amy, Mike & Anna
(PS - more later, but by God's great mercy, I was allowed to watch portions of Anna's surgery. Not for the faint of heart.)
