Sometimes it is easy to get bogged down with everyday stuff...spelling tests, school projects....therapies (vision for Amelia, speech for Anna)....lunchboxes.....doctor's appointments.....cartoons...etc. Then there are moments that are just about marking milestones and having fun. Every year around Thanksgiving, I make Amelia take a photo with Turkey Tom (you can look through the archives to see previous years' photos). Last year, we arrived home to the U.S. on Thanksgiving Day, and even with our 20+ hours awake, I still made Amelia and Lucy take turkey photos. This year is no exception. In honor of Thanksgiving, here are my treasures with the turkey.
Plus, the top 10 things I am thankful for this year:
1. The Lord is good - ALL the time. Just when I think I have learned to fully TRUST....there is more room for growth!
2. 1 year, two countries, 3 children....how could I possibly be so blessed?
3. Grandmama and Papa - my chief bus-drivers, doctor-takers, and dinner-makers. Amen!
4. Gainful employment doing important work I truly enjoy with people I like and respect.
5. My fabulous big bathtub. Yes, it makes the top 5. At the end of every evening (taking into consideration #s 1, 2, and 3), it's the material indulgence I most love. I hope there are bubble baths in Heaven.
6. Dear friends who will laugh with you, cry with you, pray with you, admonish you, and sometimes even travel the globe with you.
7. Backyard parks, Elmo movies, Cinderella puzzles, Hello Kitty remote-control cas, bicycles, crayons and color books, workbooks, spelling lists, new ballet moves, and anything else that entertains people under 8.
8. The reopening of our favorite Chinese restaurant - Hallelujah!
9. Purring kitty cats. I put Anna's hand on the kitty's abdomen the other day, and she "heard" purrs for the first time. She squealed with delight. I have always loved a purring kitty, and now, I love them even more through Anna's eyes.
10. Target popcorn. I love Target, and I love Target popcorn. Is there any cheaper way to feel completely indulged by spending one lousy dollar?!
